Instructions for Using Bluetooth Peripheral

Instructions for Using Bluetooth Peripheral

General Guidance

  • Do not pair your device via the tablet’s system Bluetooth settings.

  • All Bluetooth pairing is handled inside the MedWand exam application.

  • Bluetooth only works with compatible peripherals. Refer to our support site or contact your sales rep to check compatible models.

Pairing a New Peripheral

  1. Enter the Exam and open the Sensors menu.

  2. Select the peripheral you want to add.

  3. Tap Start.

  4. You’ll see one of two screens:

    • First-ever pairing on this tablet: you go straight to the pairing screen.

    • Previously Paired a Device: A 30-second countdown appears where you would normally connect a previously paired device. Wait for it to finish, you’ll then be presented with the pairing screen to add a new device.

  5. Put your device into its pairing mode (follow the device’s manual).

  6. When the tablet detects the correct device, it will display a confirmation message. Follow the on-screen prompts to finish pairing.

  7. Done! Your device is now saved to memory. Refer to the next section to get a reading.

IMPORTANT: A tablet and device normally only need to be paired once. If you use a new tablet, device combination, or clear the app's memory, it will have to be done again.

Taking a Reading with an Already-Paired Device

  1. From the Sensors menu, select the peripheral you will be using.

  2. Tap Start on the MedWand app.

  3. Put the device into connection/pairing mode (some devices have a separate button press for connection vs pairing, while others use the same for both).

  4. A 30-second countdown will run while the tablet searches for your device.

  5. Once connected, you’ll return to the Sensors screen with a “Waiting for reading” message at the bottom.

  6. Perform the measurement on your peripheral.***

  7. When data is transferred, it appears on the tablet screen within the MedWand app and is automatically stored.

***NOTE – Some devices require you to:

  1. Pair first, then take a reading,

  2. Measure first, then enter pairing mode.

If you’re unsure which workflow your peripheral uses, consult its user manual.
