Listed below are use instructions for all sensors included in the MedWand device. The method for activating and manipulating the sensor within the MedWand VirtualCare software will vary depending on the exam type being used.  See in-app instructions or CLICK HERE for tutorials by exam type.


Thermometer




1. Point the thermometer directly at the center of your forehead, 1 to 2 inches away from the surface of your skin. Move hair off your forehead as needed (See Figure 1).

2. Keep the Green line above your eyebrows to ensure the thermometer is pointed at your forehead NOT your eyes or nose.

4. Move the MedWand™ slowly back and forth across your entire forehead (See Figure 2).

5. The sensor will stop after 10 seconds, and the display will show your temperature reading.

Note: for an accurate reading, ensure the MedWand™ Device does not touch your skin.

Pulse Oximeter (SpO2 and Heart Rate)

 


1. Place the index finger of either hand on the Oximeter sensor (See Figure 3).

2. Cover the entire sensor with your fingertip and keep it as still as possible.

3. Keep your finger on the sensor with light pressure until the countdown ends (See Figure 3). If your fingertip is not properly aligned, the MedWand™ application reports: ‘Finger Not Detected’.

Note: If the countdown ends and a reading is not displayed, the patient may be experiencing poor perfusion. Try one or more of the suggestions below and attempt the reading again.

Stethoscope

 


Note: when a stethoscope filter is engaged in a remote exam, the patient's microphone will be muted so as not to conflict with the stethoscope.       

  1. Place the round stethoscope drum on the specified area of your body.  Your physician may request that you place the device directly on your skin if they’re having difficulty hearing through your clothing.

  2. Below are some common placement areas for the MedWand; however, your physician may request you to move the device to other locations as needed.

Camera ( Dermatoscope & Otoscope)

 


 

1.      Your physician will guide you on what they would like photographed. You may be asked to insert the skin ruler attachment into the slot located on the front of the MedWand or to attach a disposable tip for in-ear photos (see figure 19).

ECG

*Pending FDA clearance for use in the United States. (Expected Q3 2026)

 

 

  1. Sit in a comfortable position with both feet firmly planted on the floor and your arms resting gently on a stable surface

  2. Place one thumb on each ECG pad located on the bottom of your MedWand. The pads are labeled (L) Left and (R) Right.

  3. Try to remain still for the duration of the reading.  Your physician will inform you when to remove your thumbs from the pads.
